The methodology
The list is built backwards from the story threads most likely to matter in Doomsday: multiverse mechanics, the incursion problem, the mutant side of the map, and the character arcs that were left unfinished. Titles are ordered so that setups always land before their payoffs, which is why the order is not strictly by release date. The 54 preparation titles are locked and numbered — Avengers: Doomsday itself sits outside the list as the Final Boss and is never counted in your progress.
Why each category matters
- Essential — the plot, characters, or rules of the multiverse would not make sense without it. Watch these even if you watch nothing else.
- Helpful Context — you will follow the story without it, but a returning character, a location, or an emotional beat will land much harder if you have seen it.
- Bonus Context — texture, cameos, and deep cuts. Great if you have time, safe to skip if the clock is tight.
Turning on Beginner Mode filters the noise and adds a one-line, spoiler-free reason each title is on the list.
Beginner watch-order guidance
- Start with Essential titles in the listed order — that alone is a complete run-up.
- Add Helpful Context for any character you want more attachment to.
- Save Bonus Context for after you have finished the Essentials.
- Do not chase perfection. Finishing the Essentials before release beats stalling out at 60% of everything.
Schedule-building FAQ
How is my pace calculated? The builder counts only the titles you have left and only the days you actually selected between your start date and your target date, then works out the minimum titles per week required. If your chosen pace cannot finish in time, it says so plainly instead of calling you “on schedule”.
What if I fall behind? Raise titles per week, add another watch day, start earlier, or move your target date. The builder shows the exact extra titles per week you need.
How do skipped dates affect completion? Every break date you add removes a slot from the plan, so remaining titles shift later and your estimated finish date moves. Skip too many and the status flips to “Impossible at current pace”.
Can I move a single title? Yes — reschedule an individual title from its details dialog without rebuilding the whole plan.
Local progress vs. cloud sync
Without an account, everything stays in this browser's local storage — no sign-up, no server copy. Signing in is entirely optional and only adds cross-device sync: your progress is stored in a private row only your session can read. The first time you sign in on a device that already has progress, you are asked how to combine the two — nothing is overwritten silently.
